Flash Fiction
The globe of the sun grew ever larger and the few clouds that there were, could not hide the fact. Crowds gathered on vantage points to see the increasing spectacle. When the sun had grown to twice it’s normal size, it grew no further. Mankind bathed in it’s overpowering glow.
When evening arrived the sun did not set. It would never set again.
Within days crops started to fail, tall rakes of corn stood like hollow matchsticks. Within weeks strange diseases abounded. In a short time the planet died and the last man died, empty, cursing and broken.
