Flash Fiction
It was the first time I had ever truly understood science. The science that had been taught at school by boring leather patched teachers. Teachers who lacked care or sympathy. I had ignored it all then. Yet here it was happening before me.
I had seen the explosion, but I had not yet heard it. Light travels faster than sound. I could see the shrapnel exploding outward. A projectile in motion will describe a perfect parabola due to gravity. Then the pain. A complex brain processes, caused by overlapping physical, psychological and environmental factors.
But. They never taught dying.
